Anhydrochlortetracycline Hydrochloride, EvoPure® is an impurity found in the tetracycline antibiotic, chlortetracycline. Anhydrochlortetracycline is formed from tetracycline in acidic environments.
|Anhydrochlortetracycline can be used as a secondary reference standard to trace chlortetracycline. Reference standards are well-characterized, highly pure compounds that can be used to help identify and/or quantify impurities in pharmaceutical compounds and antimicrobials.
|Anhydrochlortetracycline has little antimicrobial activity; however, one study found Anhydrochlortetracycline to be particularly effective against Streptomyces aureofaciens.
