Applications of acrylamide and bis-acrylamide in protein separation techniques.
Acrylamide is used to make polyacrylamide gels to separate proteins in SDS-PAGE applications. Acrylamide is also suitable for a variety of other protein separation techniques including 1D, 2D, and isoelectric focusing and buffer systems including TAE, TBE, and Laemmli. TOKU-E acrylamide has a purity and pH specification of ≥99.0% and 6.5-7.5, respectively. Bis-acrylamide or N,N'-Methylenebisacrylamide is a cross-linking agent which can be used to manipulate pore sizes in polyacrylamide gels.
