    Anhydroerythromycin A (Erythromycin impurity D) is an impurity found in Erythromycin and is formed from the acid-catalyzed degradation of Erythromycin A under in vitro and in vivo conditions.  It has negligible antibacterial activity but can be used as a reference standard.  Anhydroerythromycin A is soluble in chloroform and sparingly soluble in water.
