Candida albicans can resist antifungal drugs by forming a biofilm, which is cause for concern. But before C. albicans can begin hyphal growth and establish a biofilm it must first go through an adhesion step. Yeast-to-hyphal transition is the antimicrobial target in this paper by Sun, Liao and Wang, where the aim is to inhibit biofilm formation before it begins. Magnolol and honokiol look to be effective anti-biofilm drugs and fungicides.
