A Genomic, Transcriptomic and Proteomic Look at the GE2270 Producer
Planobispora rosea, an Uncommon Actinomycete

GE2270 was first isolated from P. rosea in 1991, and P. rosea is still used on an industrial scale to produce GE2270. Antibiotic GE2270 is active against gram-positive bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE)Tocchetti et al. have sequenced and analyzed the genome to better understand synthesis of GE2270 and the use of P. rosea as a tool. The location of the coding genes for GE2270 and the expression levels over time are an important look at production.
